Playing alongside Gonzalez, conventional wisdom would suggest that Davis would see a much higher volume of targets, but that wasn’t the case last season. Davis (88 targets against) saw much less action than Gonzalez (106) did, although opposing offenses were fighting an uphill battle either way — especially in the postseason. During the Patriots’ playoff run, Davis lowered his passer rating allowed from 99.8 to an outstanding 22.5, allowed no touchdowns, registered three pass breakups, and grabbed two interceptions against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round.
