Scott Fitterer has left the Commanders’ front office to join Athletes First as an agent and executive in the firm’s coaches and executives division. Fitterer has spent the last two seasons as a personnel executive in Washington after a long run in NFL front offices.
In his new role, Fitterer will advise existing and prospective clients on career strategy, hiring cycles and negotiations, drawing on nearly three decades on the club side, and will be available as a shared resource across the firm’s coaching and executive roster.
Fitterer will be based in Charlotte, traveling regularly to Athletes First’s office in Gainesville, Fla., and across college and NFL programs once training camps begin. He will report to Athletes First partner Trace Armstrong, who leads the coaches and executives group and previously represented Fitterer as his agent.
“Scott’s reputation in the league is incredible. He is universally respected and a great guy,” Armstrong said. “For many of our existing clients, this is a best case scenario for us and for them.”
Fitterer previously served as GM of the Carolina Panthers from 2021-23 and spent 2001-20 with the Seahawks in scouting and personnel roles, ultimately becoming VP/Football Operations.
The move comes as Athletes First further cements its position in the coaching marketplace. The agency finished the 2026 coaching carousel representing three out of 10 head coaches hired, the most of any other agency. The agency represents Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur, Bills coach Joe Brady and Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley.
“I thought this is the part where I can make the most impact moving forward,” Fitterer said. “Taking the lessons that I’ve learned along the way and helping clients, basically advising them navigating their journey.”
