Taylor, 32, spent four seasons with San Francisco across two stints. He also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears. The 2017 fifth-round pick had his best season as a rookie with the 49ers when he caught 43 passes for 430 yards. He was also frequently used on special teams, particularly returning punts.
“Football gave me everything,” Taylor wrote on Instagram. “All of my lifelong friendships. All of the adversity and life lessons It taught me along the way. Nothing else in this world breaks you down and teaches you who you are like the game of football does. The dog days and the relationships built within it are what’s going to be missed the most.”
Injuries limited Taylor’s production in the back half of his nine-year NFL career. After playing in 41 games over his first four seasons, Taylor suited up just 39 times over the last five. He played just two games upon returning to the 49ers in 2024, then spent all of 2025 on the injured reserve list with an undisclosed injury. Taylor also missed the 2019 season due to a foot fracture.
A four-year standout at Louisiana Tech, Taylor racked up 1,803 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior in 2016. He was selected by San Francisco in the same round as George Kittle in 2017.
