This time of year, NFL rookies are putting their heads down and working as they attempt to make an impression on the coaches who either drafted them or signed them as free agents. They’re practicing on the field, lifting in the weight room, watching film and studying the playbook, immersing themselves in OTAs and minicamp.
That doesn’t mean they aren’t still thinking of loved ones back home, of course.
The Los Angeles Rams surprised their six rookie draft picks with some special messages from family members and loved ones in what made for a touching video. Konata Mumpfield, the Rams’ seventh-round receiver, was particularly emotional and talked about how important home is to him.
Take a look.
Players will have a chance to head back home after minicamp in Maui when they break for summer, but with training camp on the horizon, many of them will likely stay out in L.A. to continue grinding.
