Aaron Rodgers shared a series of Instagram photos alongside his family, with whom he was previously estranged
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be open about his desire for privacy, but that didn’t stop him from sharing an update on the inner-workings of his family.
Aaron Rodgers’ estrangement from his family first became public in 2016 when his younger brother Jordan mentioned it while competing on The Bachelorette, describing Aaron as distant and saying it was “something we don’t really talk about.”
His parents Ed and Darla then gave a lengthy interview to The New York Times in which they said they hadn’t spoken to their son in years and that the situation was heartbreaking, describing repeated attempts to reach out that went unanswered.
Rodgers himself briefly and vaguely addressed it, saying he had “made his decisions” and preferred to keep the matter private. The reason for the strained relationship was never publicly disclosed.

Based on Rodgers’ latest Instagram post, however, some burnt bridges seem to have been rebuilt, as he shared photos alongside his mother, father, brother Luke and presumably his niece and nephew with the caption “Another bonding weekend,” suggesting this is not the first time he’s reconnected with his family.
Rodgers has been in a bonding mode this month, as he shared photos of himself and Steelers teammates — Michael Pittman Jr., Ben Skowronek, Mason Rudolph, DK Metcalf, Pat Friermuth, and Roman Wilson — on a bonding trip in which they road horses, went paddle-boarding, dressed up like cowboys, and apparently did some beekeeping.
Rodgers, in what he claims will be his final NFL season, and the Pittsburgh Steelers will open their 2026 season at home against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. EST.
