With training Camp just around the corner, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive backs Jaquan Brisker, Joey Porter Jr. and DeShon Elliott worked out together at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

Brisker recently revealed in a conversation with Aaron Donald in Los Angeles that the Steelers’ defensive system fits him a lot better compared to the Chicago Bears.
“I’m gonna make sure I earn my weekends,” Brisker said via 2Tenths Speed & Agility on X. “Just trying to find my any way I can keep going. When they put me in position, you see what I did in the playoffs. It’s right here. And I feel like this system fits me a lot better, so it’s gonna be smoother.”
Brisker, 27, spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Bears, starting all 52 games he played for them. He racked up four interceptions and 342 total tackles during that span.
After his time at Gateway, Brisker starred collegiately at Lackawanna and Penn State before being selected in the second round (No. 48 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Over the last four years in the league, he has recorded 342 tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 21 passes defensed and four interceptions.
Brisker did that all while displaying his versatility, playing almost the same amount of snaps at free safety (1,270) as he did in the box (1,290), according to Pro Football Focus.
Elliott, who turns 29 on April 21, is entering his eighth NFL season and third with the Steelers.
Elliott severely hyperextended his knee during a Week 8 primetime loss to the Green Bay Packers. The veteran safety said it was just a freak accident.
“I thought my career was over,” Elliott said on Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast in April.
“Basically a freak accident, a guy landed on my knee, hyperextending my knee,” Elliott added. “But the structure of my knee was 100%. I didn’t hurt anything in my knee. I actually tore my hamstring. The hamstring, behind my knee, tore off the bone. So, they had to reattach that.
“I’ve never had non-weight-bearing injuries. Those first two months were pretty hard, and then I finally hit a peak. And after that, it just has been a lot easier now. Now, it is just about getting my strength back and getting my pop back, which is coming along pretty smoothly. Honestly, I’ve been running really well, jumping, cutting, doing all the things I need to be doing.”
Porter, 25, has quickly become one of the best cornerbacks in the league during his three seasons with the Steelers, recording 165 tackles, one sack, 31 passes defensed and three interceptions.
In fact, the biggest knock against Porter throughout the start of his NFL career has been his penalties. But he even cut those nearly in half in 2025, going from 17 in 2024 to just nine a season ago.
Porter revealed at minicamp that he expects to be paid as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks.
“Definitely, I feel like I was an elite guy since I’ve been in this League, and I’m happy that I’m getting the respect that I feel like I’m owed,” Porter said.
