Chiefs training camp 2026 begins Friday as Patrick Mahomes, rookies report to St. Joseph
SAINT JOSEPH, Mo. —
Out with the World Cup, in with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The team’s rookies and quarterbacks will be reporting to Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph on Friday.
It’s the unofficial kickoff of training camp for the 2026 NFL season.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are expected to speak with reporters on Friday afternoon.
Mahomes missed the end of last year following an ACL-injury. Reports are that he’s expected to play in Week 1 of the NFL season.
Training camp will provide the first extended look at Kansas City’s rookie class.
The class is headlined by first-round pick Mansoor Delane, a physical cornerback expected to see playing time in a secondary that lost several starters from the 2025 NFL season.
With their second pick of the first round, the team selected defensive lineman Peter Woods.
The Chiefs also added running back Emmett Johnson, who rushed for more than 1,400 yards during his final college season and could compete for snaps in the backfield.
Mahomes also has another intriguing backup this year: Former Bears and Jets quarterback Justin Fields.
The team traded for Fields in the offseason.
Late in the draft, the Chiefs added LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Nussmeier was expected to be drafted earlier.
