The Patriots added wide receiver help Saturday, claiming Kobe Prentice off waivers from the Panthers.
To make room on the Patriots’ 90-man roster, the team waived offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez.
Prentice, 22, went undrafted out of Baylor this offseason. He spent the early portion of his college career at Alabama, where he committed to as a four-star recruit.
The 5-foot-10 wide receiver finished his college career with 86 catches for 1,160 yards with 11 touchdowns. He ran a blazing 4.39-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in March.
Gutierrez had four stints with the Patriots, beginning in 2022. He was present Saturday for the Patriots’ first day of training camp.
The Patriots worked out wide receivers Keagan Johnson and Casey Washington prior to claiming Prentice. The Patriots had a need at the position after placing rookie wide receiver Jimmy Kibble on injured reserve Friday. The team signed tight end Jeremiah Franklin in a corresponding roster move.
