A former Penn State defensive tackle has signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
Per a report by league reporter Ayre Pulli, Arizona has signed Coziah Izzard to a one-year deal.
After his five-year career at Penn State ended, Izzard signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an un-drafted free agent.
He was with Kansas City until late August, when he was cut soon after being placed on the practice squad. Izzard almost immediately signed a practice squad deal with the New Orleans Saints, and stayed there the whole season, signing a reserve/future contract Jan. 5.
The Saints released Izzard last month, and now, the desert is his next stop.
Izzard was an unsung hero on Penn State’s 2024 College Football Playoff semifinal team. With defensive tackles Alonzo Ford Jr. (injury) and Hakeem Beamon (left program) being out of the picture late in the year, Izzard role became all the more important, and he delivered. In Penn State’s first playoff game against SMU, Izzard posted five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and pressured SMU QB Kevin Jennings, which led to a pick-six by Dom DeLuca.
In Penn State’s semifinal loss to Notre Dame, Izzard posted a career-high six tackles, along with a sack in what ended up being his last college game.
Izzard was thrown into the fire as a redshirt freshman. When veteran defensive tackle PJ Mustipher suffered a season-ending injury in late-October, Izzard had to step up, and started Penn State’s last seven games. He ended that season with 21 tackles (11 solo), three tackles for loss, two sacks and forced a fumble.
