Before even getting drafted by the Los Angeles Rams, tight end Terrance Ferguson was familiar with Sean McVay’s offense. That’s because at Oregon, the Ducks watched a lot of the Rams’ offense, taking elements and plays from McVay’s scheme.
Ferguson mentioned his surface-level knowledge of the Rams’ system after being drafted but he’s diving in even more now that he’s on the team – and he loves what he’s seen so far.

“We watched a lot of the Rams offense at Oregon,” he said recently. “Took some plays and some ideas from Coach McVay and this offense so being able to watch it beforehand and also get into it. Obviously, it’s very complex. It’s a great offense to be in. I’ve seen a little bit of it. High expectations and it’s exceeded that, so it’s been amazing.”
Players often rave about their experience playing for McVay, who’s one of the brightest minds in the game. Ferguson has already enjoyed his time learning from the Rams’ coach despite it only being May.
He talked about what it’s been like so far, calling it a “dream come true” to play for McVay. Ferguson also mentioned the way McVay has coached him up in OTAs, pointing out areas of improvement for the rookie tight end.
“It’s been amazing with Coach McVay,” Ferguson said. “He’s really poured into me, leaned into me out there with just little subtle things I can change and get better at. He has a lot of love for me and I appreciate that and just being able to talk with him and being able to play for someone like him is a dream come true. It’s been an amazing experience so far.”

With the way McVay schemes players open and draws up plays, Ferguson is going to get plenty of one-on-one matchups early on. That should be exciting for the rookie out of Oregon, especially considering the record-setting numbers he put up for the Ducks.
