Training camp is finally here! The New York Giants reported to training camp on Tuesday, as they prepare for the 2026 NFL season.
There’s excitement surrounding the organization thanks to the addition of Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh. In addition to Harbaugh, the team added pieces to the roster in free agency and the NFL Draft.
There are several players to keep an eye on during training camp. But here are the top six new players to watch.

Arvell Reese

The Giants feel they got the best defensive player in the draft when Arvell Reese fell to their lap with the fifth overall pick. Reese will be the team’s inside linebacker, but expect them to move him around the front seven.
Although even when the team practices with pads, there won’t be all-out contact. It will be interesting to see how the rookie is able to fight off blockers and make plays in the backfield.
Reese is one of the favorites to win Defensive Rookie of the Year due to his versatility. It will be intriguing to watch how New York utilizes his skill set in practice.
Isaiah Likely

The biggest splash the team made in free agency was signing Isaiah Likely to a three-year $40 million contract. The athletic tight end is poised to have a breakout season and will be a key target for quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Depending on the health of Malik Nabers, Likely may become the focal point of the passing game. It will be interesting to see the different positions he’s lined up in to create mismatches.
Greg Newsome II

It looks like Greg Newsome II will get the first shot at being the starting corner on the opposite side of Paulson Adebo. Entering training camp, Newsome is listed as the starter, which means for now it’s his job to lose.
The 26-year-old corner has yet to live up to being the 26th overall pick in the 2021 draft by the Cleveland Browns, but the hope is that defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson can bring out his potential. The cornerback position will be the most competitive position battle to watch this summer, and if Newsome falters, he’ll be quickly replaced.

Malachi Fields

It’s safe to say New York was very impressed with what they saw from Malachi Fields in his last year in college, where he averaged 17.5 yards per reception. They were so impressed, they traded three draft picks to the Cleveland Browns to take him with the 74th overall pick.
At 6’4 222 pounds, Fields is the tall and physical wideout the team desperately needed, particularly in the red zone. During OTAs, some drew comparisons to him and Plaxico Burress. Now we’ll get to see if he can live up to those expectations in camp.
Colton Hood

Big Blue believes they got one of the steals of the draft in second-round pick Colton Hood, as some felt he could have gone in Round 1. He’s a physical corner that excels in press-man coverage and doesn’t shy away from tackling running backs.
The question is not if he’ll become a starter this season, but when. He’s currently behind Newsome and will also be competing with Deonte Banks, but if the 21-year-old corner can hold his own and come up with some interceptions, it wouldn’t be a shock if he’s the starter Week 1.
Darnell Mooney

Darnell Mooney has had success with new offensive coordinator Matt Nagy during their time together with the Chicago Bears from 2020 to 2021. In 2021, Mooney had the best season of his career, catching 81 passes for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns.
Now that the 28-year-old wideout is reunited with Nagy and playing with one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. Due to his familiarity with the offense and the uncertainty about Nabers’ availability, Mooney will be targeted often throughout the summer.
