St. Joseph — The Kansas City Chiefs have kicked of the team’s first full practice of training camp at the campus of Missouri Western State University Wednesday.

After 10 straight seasons of making it to the postseason, the Chiefs broke that streak after finishing 6-11 last year.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes comes into the new season recovering from torn ACL and LCL injuries he suffered back in December of 2025.

Tight end Travis Kelce returns for his 14th season in Kansas City. Both Mahomes and Kelce connected several times in 7-on7 sessions.

Perhaps what could be the most impactful player for the Chiefs is a new face: running back Kenneth Walker III.

Walker III was the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player with the Seattle Seahawks last season.

The Chiefs hope the free agent signing boosts the team’s 25th ranked rushing attack in 2025.

“(The Chiefs) want to win. They’ve won many Super Bowls before,” Walker III said. “You see the work ethic that’s going on around here. Everyone wants to compete and win. We’ll see how we play this season.”

Head coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday that Walker III is catching on fast with the team.

“I thought he look good,” Reid said. “(Walker III) is working through everything. He’s a smart kid, does his due diligence, and wants to know everything. He’s also talented which is a good combination.”

On the defensive side of the ball, Linebacker Nick Bolton is back for his 6th NFL season.

It was announced earlier in the summer that Bolton would be inducted to the Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame this fall.

“Looking back on it, it was about nine years ago I first stepped into the building,” Bolton said. “Super proud to be a True Son of Missouri. This place has been my home, allowed me to be myself and grow into my own. I was super excited. I made the joke that I was expecting some old guy to receive the announcement instead of me, but I am super proud to be one of these guys (inducted).”

In other news, Reid said to the media after practice that Mia Bienemey, wife of offensive coordinator Eric Bienemey, checked out of intensive care unit and is continues to recover from a gunshot wound she suffered on Sunday. Eric Bienemey will continue to be away from the team to be with Mia as she continues her recovery according to Reid.
