The Pittsburgh Steelers enter 2026 as a positionally versatile team, something the coaching staff has harped on time and time again. Looking at the entire roster, there may not be a position group that emulates that more than the offensive line the Steelers have assembled.

The unit has its cornerstones. But it’s also got a handful of new names, and a few players moving to a different spot. It’s enough change to give former Steeler Willie Colon something to be nervous about.

“I think right now for the Steelers, there’s a big concern on the offensive line. ‘Cause the right side of the offensive line has now moved to the left. Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick are now on the left side. And now you have this big gap on the right side. Could that be Dylan Cook? They have a competition under right guard; Zach Frazier’s playing center,” Colon said Tuesday on FS1’s First Things First. “It all starts up front.”

Troy Fauntau and Mason McCormick are heading to the left side. Both saw reps at left tackle and left guard during OTAs, and they opened with the first team at those spots on Wednesday as well. Colon mentions Dylan Cook spending time at right tackle, the spot he played with the first team Wednesday.

It is a little worrisome that all three have to get used to a new position. Especially since each of them was solid when relied upon last year. However, the positions aren’t really that new for any of them. All three played at those respective spots in college, so it’s not like they’ll be learning from scratch.

At right guard, the competition is very much alive. Spencer Anderson seems to have pole position, but he’ll be battling Brock Hoffman, Steven Jones and Gennings Dunker. Looking at the line from afar, there’s a solid chance the Steelers enter the season with Zach Frazier the only lineman to start in the same spot as he did in 2025.

It’s more than fair to be concerned about that. However, we really have no idea what this unit is going to look like come Week 1. McCarthy told us there would be shuffling, and he also told us to look at personnel combinations more than anything else. The unit we saw on Wednesday might look very different by the time Week 1 actually rolls around. Of course, Broderick Jones’ return to play only complicates things even more.

However, the Steelers do have talent on their offensive line. They also have a lot of youth. Two things which should bring optimism. Colon hopes it all sorts itself out before the regular season begins.
