Justin Herbert‘s Los Angeles Chargers teammates are giving Madison Beer a warm welcome into their WAG family following his proposal.
The NFL quarterback, 28, announced his engagement to the singer-songwriter, 27, in a joint post on Instagram on Tuesday, July 28. “Meet my fiancé,” Beer captioned a series of photos and clips of the romantic outdoor proposal.
The next day during Chargers Training Camp in El Segundo, California, several of Herbert’s teammates revealed their reactions to his engagement and their thoughts on the couple’s relationship on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams.

Linebacker Daiyan Henley, 26, recalled the moment Herbert told him he was going to propose to Beer.
“I knew. We’re locker room guys. I made a joke one day, and he was like, ‘Bro, I’m bending the knee.’ I said, ‘Oh, you’re bending the knee? I can’t wait.’ He let us know. He clued us in already,” Henley said. “The specifics I can’t give, but the fact that he did that, I love that guy. He was ready. Love was in the air, love was in his eyes, love was in his heart.”
He said he knew Beer was the one for Herbert when the Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-21 during their game in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 5, 2025. Beer and Herbert first sparked romance rumors the month prior.

“[I knew she was the one] when Justin Herbert slid, first game versus the Chiefs, and he slid and we won that game,” Henley said. “In São Paulo I said, ‘She’s the one.’ I said, ‘We’re winning ’cause of Madison. Madison’s helping us.’ I love you, Madi. And I love Justin Herbert. It was the slide. Did you see the kick, the flair, the leg? When he put his leg in the air, that was a cheers to his lady. That was a love kick. She was the one.”
Meanwhile, head coach Jim Harbaugh, 62, is confident Beer is the one because Herbert “lights up when he talks about her.” He remembered, “When she started coming around, everyone raved about what a nice person she is.” At the time, Herbert told the team that he planned to propose “sometime this summer,” and they celebrated with “a nice high five.”
Harbaugh added that his teenage daughter also gives a “big stamp of approval” on Herbert’s engagement because she’s a “big fan” of Beer.

Likewise, safety Derwin James Jr., 29, is so “happy” for Herbert.
“That’s my brother. I’ve watched him since the first day he came in. He came in working hard and he’s an amazing guy, an amazing, amazing person,” James said. “I feel like people don’t really know who he is ’cause they kinda think he’s quiet, but, man, in the locker room he’s opening up to us and he’s a guy I love having on my team. I said on Twitter, that’s my quarterback and I was just happy for him.”
