2. Cornerback Mansoor Delane hauled in an interception during 11-on-11 drills.
Delane, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, tallied an interception when the ball glanced off the intended receiver’s hands and right into Delane’s grasp.
The rookie cornerback is still sporting a yellow, non-contact jersey as he continues to work his way back to full strength from a shoulder injury suffered earlier this summer, but he’s still managing to make plays.
Elsewhere on defense, cornerback Kristian Fulton logged a diving pass-breakup during 7-on-7 drills. Defensive back Jadon Canady also recorded a noteworthy play when he notched a pass-breakup on a short throw during an 11-on-11 period.
3. Wide receiver Omari Evans was a standout on Saturday.
An undrafted free agent signee, Evans flashed on Saturday with a handful of noteworthy plays.
First, Evans hauled in a catch deep down the sideline during 7-on-7 drills while showing off his electric speed, which clocked a 4.28 40-yard dash at his pro day earlier this year. For context, that time would have tied for the third-fastest among all players at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Evans then recorded another impressive play a little bit later when he completed a diving grab near the sideline during an 11-on-11 portion of practice.
Overall, it was a strong day for a player who’s worth knowing as training camp continues.
4. The “ramp up” to padded practices is now complete.
The league-mandated process of “easing” into padded practices is now complete following Saturday’s session, setting the stage for the first padded practice of training camp on Monday morning.
It’s obviously a major benchmark in the Chiefs’ preparation for the upcoming season, and keep in mind – due to league rules – Monday will mark the first time that Kansas City takes the field in pads since last season ended. The entirety of the offseason training program was limited to non-padded practices, meaning the true evaluation of certain position groups – notably the linemen on both sides of the ball – can really begin on Monday.
In regard to the defensive line specifically, defensive tackle Chris Jones – who mentioned Peter Woods and R Mason Thomas as standouts so far – shared his excitement about Monday’s session and beyond.
“I’m excited about the young talent we have on the defensive line. [There’s] a lot of explosiveness,” Jones said. “I’m excited to get the pads on and see where we stand.”
