EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. — Excelsior Springs High School graduate Sam Webb is continuing his NFL career after signing with the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos officially announced the addition of the veteran cornerback Friday, July 31. Denver designated defensive back Blake Cotton as waived/injured in a corresponding roster move. Webb reportedly earned the contract following a tryout with the team Thursday and was expected to join the Broncos for their first regular training camp practice Friday.
Webb, who is preparing for his fifth NFL season, has appeared in 36 regular-season games since entering the league in 2022. He has recorded 45 tackles, four passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery during his professional career.
The former Tiger began his NFL journey after signing with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. Webb appeared in all 17 games during his rookie season, including three starts.
He has since spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns. Webb appeared in seven games and made two starts for Cleveland last season. One of his biggest plays came during the Browns’ Jan. 4 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, when he recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.
