VIDEO REPORT: Saints in pads for first time this camp, rookie WR Barion Brown makes splash plays
The real fun has kicked off for the New Orleans Saints this training camp.
The Saints put on full pads for the first time this camp.
It’s always a great time, especially for the offensive and defensive linemen.
Defensive end Carl Granderson isn’t making a big deal about the pads going on for the first time, because he feels like every day is his best day.
“I hate when people say when the pads get on, we’re going to see. You should be doing that already without the pads, it’s just another day at practice for me,” Granderson said.
Granderson was then asked, “Does it juice it up a little bit more since you get to put your hands on people?”
Yeah. I mean, I’ve been put my hands on people so it just don’t matter to me. Like you said, it’s just another opportunity to hit, everybody was pumped up.”
Monday was also the first time fans and media got to see the Saints do one-on-one drills.
The offensive line versus the defensive line, plus wide receivers versus the defensive backs.
Rookie receiver Barion Brown made some nice catches in one-on-one drills.
During team drills, Brown dropped a perfect deep pass from quarterback Spencer Rattler, but then later in practice, he would make up for it by hauling a pass down the sideline.
“I’ve loved our experience with Barion, he’s done an awesome job. His energy, his juice. He’s getting better each and every day. I think his practice habits are awesome. I think, if he continues to do that, he could be a great example for how to practice and, great response,” head coach Kellen Moore said.
The Saints are off Tuesday and return to the practice field for an open practice Wednesday morning.
