The Los Angeles Rams made a big commitment to one player in particular from their 2025 draft class, with that individual explaining why he’s fallen to the right team while hoping to replace a legendTerrance Ferguson has spoken on why he loves to have landed with the Rams

The Los Angeles Rams made former Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson their first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in a somewhat surprising move, putting a lot of faith in a player they think highly of, and he believes he’s landed with the perfect team.

Ferguson came into draft weekend seen as a third or fourth round pick, with impressive tape from his final year with the Ducks with 591 yards and three touchdowns. Mirror US Sports had ranked Ferguson as a third-round prospect, with the consensus draft board having Colston Loveland, Tyler Warren, Elijah Arroyo, Mason Taylor and Harold Fannin Jr being seen as superior players at his position.

But after trading out of the first round entirely to acquire a first-round pick in next year’s class, a potential asset to help them land Arch Manning, the Rams made Ferguson their first pick in the class.

While Loveland, Warren and Taylor had been taken, Arroyo and Fannin Jr remained available to the Rams, who opted to go with Ferguson.

The player has now linked up with the Rams having begun organized team activities (OTAs) this week, believing him to have found the perfect coach for him in Sean McVay.

Ferguson speaking with his new QB Matt Stafford

Ferguson told reporters: “We watched a lot of the Rams offense at Oregon. Took some plays and some ideas from Coach McVay and this offense so being able to watch it beforehand and also get into it. Obviously, it’s very complex. It’s a great offense to be in. I’ve seen a little bit of it. High expectations and it’s exceeded that, so it’s been amazing.”

He added: “It’s been amazing with Coach McVay. He’s really poured into me, leaned into me out there with just little subtle things I can change and get better at.

“He has a lot of love for me and I appreciate that and just being able to talk with him and being able to play for someone like him is a dream come true. It’s been an amazing experience so far.”

McVay is likely to utilize multiple formations with his three tight ends

Ferguson joins a crowded tight end room with the Rams, alongside Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson, with McVay to potentially explore the use of three tight-end sets, alongside starting receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.

A receiving tight end, another option to utilize Ferguson could be in the role left vacant by Cooper Kupp, who joined the Rams’ bitter rivals in the Seattle Seahawks – returning to his hometown state and the team he was a fan of growing up.

Standing at 6-5 and 247 pounds, Ferguson profiles as a slot receiver more so than an in-line tight-end, with Kupp operating out of the slot for the majority of his time with the team.
