Here’s a big-time throw from rookie quarterback Tyler Shough to start your work week. The New Orleans Saints shared a highlight reel of action from their recent OTAs practice session, and it started with a deep strike from Shough to wide receiver Bub Means (which you can see here, or in the video embedded below).

Shough stepped up to fire a pass deep downfield with Means having gotten a step on the defender in coverage; it’s a great play to see from both of them. With Shough competing against Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener to start at quarterback this season, he needs to show everyone why he deserves to lead the huddle over a more experienced passer. As for Means? Injuries cost him a lot of time last season, so any momentum he can build ahead of training camp is valuable.

We shouldn’t make too much out of a 55-second clip from a practice where nobody was wearing pads or even really making contact. But with access to practice so restrictive this time of the year, we’ll take all the positive buzz we can find.
