FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (WBTV) – A former Salisbury High School football star and Atlanta Falcon was carted off at practice on Tuesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Steve Wyche.
On Tuesday, Aug. 4, second-year linebacker Jalon Walker, was carted off the field after he went down with an apparent injury. According to Rapoport and Wyche, it is feared that Walker tore his ACL. Walker will have an MRI to confirm the injury.
The former Georgia Bulldog was drafted No. 15 in the 2025 NFL Draft and he totaled 5.5 sacks in his rookie season.
Reports said that Walker went down during an 11-on-11 play late in practice and trainers immediately attend to by trainers.
During his time as a star at Salisbury High School he was named to the 2022 Under Armour All-American Game. He was named the 2020 North Carolina Gatorade Football Player of the Year.
He was named the Butkus Award given annually to the nation’s top linebacker.
The Falcons pass rush was an area of concern as they head into the season.
Former Charlotte area high school star James Pearce Jr. was arrested back in February on domestic violence related charges. Pearce could face a suspension and it is unclear how long he may be suspended for.
Pearce was the No. 26 overall pick by the Falcons in the 2025 NFL Draft. He finished second in AP Rookie Defensive of the Year voting after posting 26 combined tackles, 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble and five passes defended.
