We previously wrote about Mason’s addition to the roster. An undrafted rookie from Wisconsin, he spent time with the Seattle Seahawks before he was waived yesterday. He’ll take Galbreath’s spot on the 91-man roster.

Dowell is a former 2023 seventh-round pick of the Tennessee Titans out of UT-Martin. He most recently spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, but they just waived him. He appeared in 10 games as a rookie with Tennessee, recording one catch for 3 yards on a pair of targets. Dowell logged 51 offensive snaps; most of his playing time, 139 snaps, came on special teams. He was credited with three tackles: two solo and one assisted.

After tearing his ACL and meniscus late in his rookie year, Dowell missed the 2024 season while recovering from the injury. Tennessee waived him during cutdowns before the 2025 season.

Last year, he spent one week on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. But he hasn’t appeared in a regular-season game since his rookie season.

At his Pro Day, Dowell weighed in at 6027, 212 pounds. He impressed with a 4.44 40 time, a 41.5-inch vertical, 11’1′ broad, and 23 reps on the bench press. At UT-Martin, Dowell recorded 177 career receptions for 2,796 yards (15.8 yards per reception) and 19 touchdowns. As a senior, he posted 67 catches for 1,036 yards and six scores.

Dowell will fight to make the Steelers’ practice squad.

Perry stood out early in training camp, but his play quieted in recent days. A lack of special teams value also hampered him. Galbreath struggled to separate himself during team periods and hadn’t yet caught a pass in non-walkthrough team period sessions.

Pittsburgh’s roster stands at the league-maximum of 91, including international exemption EDGE Julius Welschof.

The Steelers return to practice Saturday with the team’s annual night session at Latrobe Memorial Stadium.
