The Patriots and tight end Hunter Henry reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension, ESPN’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday morning.
It’s a two-year, $16 million deal worth up to $20 million with $14.5 million guaranteed and a $4.2 million signing bonus, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Henry, 31, was entering a contract year heading into the 2026 season with no guaranteed money left on his deal.
The veteran tight end is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he caught 60 passes for 768 yards, a career high, with seven touchdowns from superstar quarterback Drake Maye.
The Patriots added reinforcements at tight end this offseason when they selected Eli Raridon in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame and signed Tanner Arkin out of Illinois as an undrafted free agent. They also signed veteran tight end Julian Hill, but he suffered a season-ending knee injury over the spring.
Henry is entering his sixth season with the Patriots. In five seasons, he’s caught 250 passes for 2,973 yards with 26 touchdowns. He began his career with the Chargers before signing as a free agent with the Patriots in 2021.
Prior to this spring, Henry had changes at offensive coordinator in each of his four previous offseasons with the Patriots. He’ll get to work with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for the second straight year and third season overall in 2026.
Despite being regarded as one of the NFL’s better tight ends for most of his career, Henry has never made a Pro Bowl or been named to an All-Pro squad.
The team also has Jack Westover, CJ Dippre and Mitch Van Vooren at tight end.
