With the first preseason game kicking off Friday night, today is almost useless depth chart day.
It’s the first official depth chart released by the team this summer. Most coaches say it’s meaningless, little more than satisfying a league rule to issue one.
The Bucs dropped theirs this morning and Joe’s not seeing any surprises on offense, so the offense is not show belown. On defense? That’s another story.
SirVocea Dennis is listed as the starting inside linebacker alongside veteran newcomer Alex Anzalone. On the second team is rookie inside linebacker Josiah Trotter, who has wowed at training camp and, frankly, was drafted to start.
Why did the Bucs put Trotter on second team when first-round pick Rueben Bain is on the first team? That reality means it can’t be an unwritten rookie rule thing.
Punt returner was somewhat noteworthy, with Kameron Johnson listed as top dog ahead of Tez Johnson. Joe thinks Kameron Johnson might struggle to make the roster.
