NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Saints will induct Drew Brees into the team’s Ring of Honor this upcoming season.
Brees is the ninth person from the Saints organization to join the Ring of Honor, which is the list of names that goes around the Caeser’s Superdome.
The ceremony will take place at halftime when the Saints host the Vikings on Oct. 11.
“We are thrilled to welcome Drew into this distinguished group in October. His extraordinary accomplishments on the field, his leadership and his lasting contributions to the New Orleans community make this honor so well deserved,” said Saints Owner & CEO Gayle Benson. “We look forward to celebrating Drew with our fans and honoring the extraordinary legacy he built with the Saints and throughout the New Orleans community.”
Other names on the Ring of Honor include Owner Tom Benson, Morten Anderson, Archie Manning and Will Smith.
DREW BREES HALL OF FAME
The honor comes after Brees was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Brees delivered his Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement speech Saturday (Aug. 8), tracing a 20-year NFL career that took him from Texas to Purdue, San Diego and ultimately New Orleans.
Some of his strongest words were reserved for the city where he spent 15 seasons and became a Super Bowl champion.
“New Orleans…you accepted me, you embraced me, you believed in me but more importantly, you trusted me with the soul of the city, and I would have died to protect that calling,” Brees said.
