Day 12 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Tuesday, August 11. The quarterback battle continued on, with everyone looking more comfortable as practices go on.
Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 12 (8/11/26)
1. I Guess There Was Never Much Doubt: One of the biggest positions of debate heading into training camp was the offensive line, specifically from center to right tackle. However, it hasn’t ended up being much to debate. Elgton Jenkins has been exclusively at center, and Tytus Howard has stuck to right tackle. Today, head coach Todd Monken indicated that right guard is the only spot still in competition, and that the veteran Teven Jenkins has the upper hand.
2. As for the Backups: One depth chart change caught the eye of the media today: Austin Barber was at left tackle on the second unit, while Dawand Jones was at right tackle.
3. Drill of the Day: Here is a fun drill where the defensive line pass rushes around the edge, but then works back toward a screen to try to dislodge it.
4. Early Interception: QB Deshaun Watson was first up as the quarterback today, and early on, he overthrew a pass that was picked off by CB Tyron Herring.
5. Sanders With Some Strong Throws: Here is a nice pass from QB Shedeur Sanders to TE Brenden Bates:
Sanders also threw a great downfield ball for WR Denzel Boston, but the rookie couldn’t hang on as CB Tre Avery may have helped jar it loose.
6. Bond Open Deep: Cleveland is going to have some interesting decisions for their depth at wide receiver, as WR Isaiah Bond has been finding ways to get open in camp, including on this touchdown pass from QB Deshaun Watson.
7. Verse Making an Impact: I’m looking forward to seeing the degree of impact that DE Jared Verse will have on gameday. Here he is getting his hand on QB Deshaun Watson’s arm as he tries to throw.
And then here is Verse using his size to knock a pass down.
8. QB Debate: Both quarterbacks seem to be having better connections with receivers and long balls as camp goes on. Per Zac Jackson, though, when it comes to actual game simulation periods, QB Deshaun Watson has fared better:
9. Brownies: When the Browns’ first unofficial depth chart was released today, Cleveland made sure that the No. 1 QB read “Deshaun Watson OR Shedeur Sanders.” … There is a low-key competition happening at the punter position. … Former Browns WR Brian Brennan watched practice. … CB Damarri Mathis was carted off during an injury in 1-on-1 drills, and is now on IR. … LB Nathaniel Watson picked off CB Dillon Gabriel. … DT Travis Bell left early with an injury.
10. Up Next: The Browns will practice on Wednesday at 1:30 PM ET. It will be the final practice open to the public.
