EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced the signing of running back Jermar Jefferson.
A seventh-round draft pick by Detroit in 2021, Jefferson was with the Lions through 2024 before spending time with Tennessee and Arizona last season and one week with San Francisco in the spring.
Jefferson, 26, has appeared in 11 NFL games and rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, and he has caught five of six targets for 33 yards. His offensive stats were produced in nine games with Detroit.
Listed at 5-foot-10 and 212 pounds, Jefferson is a product of Oregon State, where he overlapped with Vikings center Blake Brandel. He posted nearly 3,000 rushing yards (5.7 avg.) and 29 total touchdowns in 27 contests for the Beavers and was The Associated Press’ 2020 Co-Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.
The Vikings waived running back Jordan Mims, who had missed some time during training camp.
