For fans hungry to watch their favorite pro football team, the preseason begins in earnest this weekend. Currently, there are two former Liberty players on NFL rosters, Malik Willis and Demario Douglas. Both seem like virtual locks to make the 53-man roster.

QB MALIK WILLIS

Willis was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2021 draft by the Tennessee Titans. After serving as a backup, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers just ahead of the start of the 2024 season where he was very productive. Now, entering 2026, Willis signed a three-year, $67.5 million contract with the Dolphins. He is slated to be the team’s starter and looking to turn heads throughout the preseason leading up to the start of the regular season.

Next game: @ Washington Commanders, Friday, Aug. 14, 7:00 p.m.

WR DEMARIO DOUGLAS

Douglas was drafted in the 6th round of the 2023 NFL draft by the New England Patriots, and he immediately asserted himself as one of the top receivers for New England.  Douglas had 49 receptions for 561 yards and rushed 8 times for 41 yards in his rookie season. He has continued to be a threat in the passing game over the past two seasons, helping lead the Patriots to a Super Bowl appearance this past season. Douglas is entering his 4th season in the NFL, all with the Patriots, and is expected to be a primary pass catcher for QB Drake Maye once again.

Next game: vs Indianapolis Colts, Thursday, Aug. 13, 7:30 p.m.
