The New York Giants made a coaching change this offseason, and John Harbaugh is bringing a fresh approach to Jersey. Could he also be clashing with holdover general manager Joe Schoen? After all, there had been chatter that Harbaugh wanted his own preferred GM hired rather than see the Giants stick with Schoen.
The GIants did end up sticking with Schoen, but after Harbaugh’s recent comments, it’s not hard to wonder whether he and the GM are at odds.

John Harbaugh Wants New York Giants To Sign Terrion Arnold

The Giants brought in controversial former first-round pick Terrion Arnold for a workout on Wednesday. The Giants are the fourth team to bring the cornerback in since his release from the Detroit Lions on June 29 following an arrest for kidnapping and armed robbery.
‘It may have been Schoen’s decision to bring in Arnold. It may have been Harbaugh’s. Heck, the idea could have even come from Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. Either way, the Giants worked the 23-year-old out, and he made a strong impression on Harbaugh. So strong that Harbaugh made it known to the New York media that he wants Schoen to sign Arnold to a contract.
“We want to be aggressive in every way, whatever we can do, find anything out we can about any situation or player that can help us be better. The margins are tight in the NFL. We’re looking for players that can help us all the time. He’s a player that can help us. The organization has looked at it in depth. If there is a decision to be made on any player that you don’t want to go there with, then this organization won’t go there.”

During HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” the Seattle Seahawks were discussing potentially signing Arnold too. Joey Schneider, the Seahawks’ assistant GM, believes Arnold would be allowed to play in the preseason. Whether he’d face discipline for the regular season remains to be seen.
Of course, there would likely also be backlash involved from bringing in a player who’s currently facing eight felony charges. But teams have consistently shown that they’re willing to look past some levels of legal trouble if they believe it can help win a Super Bowl. That seems to be the approach the Giants are considering too.
