Quinton Bell made a couple of nice plays for the 49ers to help them end the drive. An illegal hit by Nick Martin catalyzed the scoring drive for Tennessee.

Wow.

After missing from 61 yards out early in the game, Pineiro was good from 52 to bring the 49ers within a field goal.

The 49ers defense got off the field on a third-and-10 thanks to the recently-signed veteran defensive end. Okoronkwo was the first one home. Rookie James Thompson Jr. was also applying pressure.

The 49ers ruled out Rourke early in the second half after listing him as questionable with a rib injury late in the second quarter.

The final play of the first half was a 55-yard field goal by Titans kicker Joey Slye after the Titans used the final 13 seconds to get into field goal range after Eddy Pineiro’s miss. A calamity!

It was well done by QB Adrian Martinez to get the 49ers near scoring range, but Martinez took a bad sack late in the drive to set up a fourth-and-24 where San Francisco was forced to roll out its kicker for the long try. It didn’t go through the uprights.

The Mitchell Trubisky-led Titans stalled out in the red zone and settled for a 39-yard field goal on what could be their final drive of the first half. Joey Slye’s field goal put the Titans up 10-3.

Rourke took a hit near the goal line on the 49ers’ touchdown drive. He was a little slow to get up and after the series went to the medical tent on the sideline. He was eventually announced as questionable with a rib injury. Rourke, a second-year seventh-round pick’s night appears to be over with Adrian Martinez in on the ensuing offensive possession. The 49ers’ starter for Thursday night went 12-of-14 for 100 yards in three series. He also ran three times for 14 yards.

It looked like Taylor had a sweet touchdown catch on the sideline. Replay showed he didn’t get a second foot down, though and nullified the score. However, there was a pass interference call on the play that gave San Francisco the ball on Tennessee’s 1-yard line. Taylor plowed into the end zone on the next play.

Jones was originally listed as questionable after he was injured on the 49ers’ first defensive series. Midway through the second quarter and he’s been ruled out. He was coming up with big plays in training camp and making his case for a roster spot. This is a tough way for his preseason to start.

What a grab. The No. 33 overall pick is up to six catches for 51 yards on seven targets after this sweet catch for 32 yards.

A couple of penalties derailed the end of San Francisco’s first two offensive series, but overall that unit didn’t look bad led by QB Kurtis Rourke (seven-of-eight for 39 yards) and WR De’Zhaun Stribling (four catches for 16 yards on five targets). The 49ers’ defense is made up largely of reserves and they were able to force a punt against Tennessee’s starting offense to close the quarter after allowing a 95-yard touchdown drive on their first series.

It took one drive for a 49ers defender to go down with an injury. The team announced Jones is questionable to return with a hand injury.

Stribling’s size and speed have been evident in training camp and his penchant for winning contested throws has been highlighted multiple times. He got a chance to show that skill on his second reception Thursday when he had to work through Titans cornerback Cordale Flott to make a strong catch away from his body for a first down. It’s easy on plays like this to see why QB Brock Purdy already trusts him.

Tennessee’s starting offense didn’t face much resistance on its way to an 11-play, 95-yard touchdown drive. Running back Tony Pollard made his way into the end zone from five yards out to put an exclamation point on the series, but 49ers rookies DT Gracen Halton, LB Jaden Dugger and CB Ephesians Prysock all came up with good plays during the drive which is a good sign for the trio of 49ers draft picks.

Prysock got tested against Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate, who was the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft, on a first-and-goal from the 5. Tate ran an out to the front pylon and Prysock had perfect coverage to get a hand in and knock the throw away.

The 49ers went for it on a fourth-and-5 from the 50 and it looked like Rourke would go down for a sack, but the second-year seventh-round pick did well to avoid pressure and escape the pocket for his second rushing first down of the drive. That’s good to see from Rourke who missed all of last season with a knee injury.

Rourke was under center to start the game and his first throw was a quick out to Stribling who hauled the throw in for five yards.

It’ll be Kurtis Rourke and Adrian Martinez under center for the 49ers on Thursday. It makes sense the 49ers wouldn’t roll Jones out there. They know what they’re getting from their backup and he’s too important to risk getting hurt in a preseason game.
