BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Buffalo Bills partnered with Delta Airlines to host a Back-To-School Backpack Giveaway at the Ken-Ton YMCA on Sunday.

The event aimed to help local families kick off the new school year by providing free backpacks to students. Bills outside linebacker Bradley Chubb and defensive back Sam Franklin Jr. were in attendance to help distribute supplies and meet families.

“It’s just great to help these kids out so they can feel comfortable while they’re in school,” Franklin said. “You turn it up a little bit by giving them signed autographs, you know, taking pictures with them, something that they can turn this experience not into like, a downer, but a bright spot of their life.”

“I think the biggest, most important part of this whole process is to show that three great organizations [are] coming together to meet the needs of community members; that no one alone can do it by themselves, but collectively, we can be a bridge to support our families and lift everyone up,” YMCA Buffalo Niagara President and CEO Michael Farris said.

The event offered a variety of family-friendly activities, including a balloon artist, mini golf, and more.
