Nebraska running back Tikey Hayes has been dismissed from the Husker football team, a program source has confirmed to HuskerOnline.

Hayes joined Nebraska this summer after spending the spring at Iowa Western Community College. The former Penn State running back was a late addition to the Huskers’ roster, giving NU another experienced option in a running back room looking to replace Emmett Johnson.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Hayes originally signed with Penn State out of Aliquippa (Pa.) High School as part of the Nittany Lions’ 2025 recruiting class before eventually making his way to Iowa Western.

Hayes had been competing for a role this fall alongside Mekhi Nelson, Isaiah Mozee, Jamal Rule and the rest of Nebraska’s running back room. In Saturday’s scrimmage, Hayes took carries with NU’s top offensive units. The team did not practice on Sunday and returned to action on Monday.

His dismissal leaves the Huskers with one fewer option at the position as they move deeper into fall camp and closer to their Sept. 5 season opener against Ohio.
