These programs played in Frisco for the FCS national championship, and NDSU romped to a 37-10 win and its fifth consecutive title. Fairly or unfairly, it was the game that helped cement JSU’s FCS reputation as something of a paper tiger(a team that would build a lofty record in a weak conference before ultimately losing to better opponents in the playoffs).
But the shoe is now on the other foot. Jacksonville State has become a real G6 contender in Conference USA, helping to boost the profile of a conference that needs a few teams that can compete on the level of better G6 conferences.
In July, this number was north of NDSU -7. But this number is moving fast toward JSU because – in a delicious bit of irony – JSU is now the much more clearly known commodity.
