One Arizona Cardinals rookie has the opportunity to go back and play college football. According to ESPN’s Dan Murphy and Pete Thamel, safety Wydett Williams, at the bottom of the Cardinals’ depth chart at safety, was one of a few players granted a temporary restraining order to return to college for one more season.
There is a group of about 30 athletes which includes four of Williams’ former Ole Miss teammates who have signed with NFL teams.
Williams went undrafted this year and signed a three-year contract with the Cardinals worth more than $3.1 million, including $110,000 in guarantees.
He isn’t expected to make the roster and making the Cardinals’ or another team’s practice squad is uncertain.
According to their attorney. Williams and these other players wish to be released from their contracts to return to play college ball. If they are released by Sept. 1. they will be able to do so.

The NFL’s roster cutdown date is Sunday, Aug. 30.
