Jerry Jones has hit back at the $500k fine received by the Dallas Cowboys for their involvement in the joint practice brawl with the New Orleans Saints.

Tuesday’s joint session between the Cowboys and the Saints certainly proved to be a feisty one, with multiple fights breaking out.

It has been claimed that the Competition Committee has put an even bigger emphasis on sportsmanship to the 32 NFL teams ahead of the 2026 season.

As a result, the Cowboys and the Saints have been an example of and received a significant fine of $500k each.

As the man who will foot the bill for the Cowboys, Jones has now broken his silence on the ruling from the NFL against his team.

There were numerous altercations between both sets of players, which ended up in the two head coaches discussing the option of calling an early finish to the joint practice.

However, the decision was made to keep on training as the inevitable fines were being lined up by the league officials.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Jones shared his response to the $500k fine received by the NFL.

“I’m offended,” joked Jones.

“There is a strong opinion in the league when we have these joint practices. Everybody is aware of the competition, both individually as well as through the team.

“We understand that you don’t have the discipline of penalties that are real difference makers out here, and frankly, you probably don’t have the officiating consequences. This game is physical, and it’s easy to get involved with aggressive temperaments. All of that makes it a real focal point of the league to stay within good sportsmanship.

“Taking helmets off and swinging and hitting and that type of thing is not good for anybody. It’s certainly not what we want to represent to our fans, as a league, or as a team. So it’s understandable.”

Jones also admitted that the individuals involved in the brawls will be fined for their roles played in the altercations on Tuesday.

The Cowboys face the Arizona Cardinals this weekend before then facing the Saints in their final preseason game of the summer next weekend.
