The Seattle Seahawks may be primed to contend for the Super Bowl in 2026, but will they be an elite team for the three seasons following that?
ESPN ranked the Seahawks No. 1 overall in their power rankings projecting how successful each team in the league will be from 2027-29.
“The league has been looking for a young defensive counterstrike to the ascent of offensive masterminds Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, and the Seahawks have finally found it!” ESPN’s Ben Solak said. “Coach Mike Macdonald has a stellar track record of defensive player development, and the emergence of WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, OT Charles Cross and QB Sam Darnold sets a high floor in Seattle for years to come.”
Seattle has a young core of stars that will be under contract until 2029, also including Devon Witherspoon, Derick Hall and Jadarian Price, as well as several draft picks from this year, including Bud Clark, that will aid their efforts to be perennial contenders from 2027-29. Star safety Nick Emmanwori will also be on the roster until 2028, while star guard Grey Zabel has a club option for that year.
With many of the team’s foundational pieces set to be on the team for most or all of the three-year stretch following next season, as well as their favorable cap situation and coach Mike Macdonald being in town for the entirety of that span, the Seahawks are greatly positioned to experience the most success in the league over the course of that time period.
