BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Multiple high school football games are in a delay due to weather in the area Friday night.
As teams across the state are kicking off their 2026 seasons, some will have to wait just a few more minutes.
Central High School’s game vs. Center Point in west Alabama was originally under a 15-minute delay, however, officials have now asked fans on both sides of the stands to clear out. There is no word yet on when the game will begin.
Falcon Stadium – Central High School(WBRC)
Hueytown is in a 30-minute delay for their game vs. Mountain Brook.
Tuscaloosa County High School said on social media that their game vs. Hillcrest is currently in a lightning delay. Players have been sent to their locker room, and band members and cheerleaders have been sent to the gym, per the school.
Pelham High School Productions said their game vs. Oak Mountain is also in a lightning delay, with an estimated kickoff time of 8:35.
Sylacauga vs. Holtville was able to begin before the game entered into a delay in the first quarter due to a lightning delay, per The Aggie Sports Network.
Hewitt-Trussville vs. Auburn were able to play into the 2nd quarter, however lightning delayed the game with 8:04 to go in the 1st half.
