The Denver Broncos lost a preseason game for the first time in three years, a 33-13 smackdown at the hands of the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of the preseason on Friday night.
The Broncos‘ first preseason game at Empower Field at Mile High was a highly anticipated one. Quarterback Bo Nix made a triumphant return to the field, playing in the first two drives of the game. Nix went 6-of-9 for 76 yards and a touchdown in his return. Nix also gave fans a glimpse of what they can expect in the regular season with a 35-yard strike to wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in the first quarter. Nix scored on both of his drives, keeping the score at a 10-7 Denver advantage when he exited.
Outside of that, it was tough going on both sides of the ball for the Broncos. Cornerback Riley Moss was injured on the second play of the game and never returned, while the offense stalled after Nix and the first-team offense left the field. The defense gave up 16 unanswered Packer points in the second quarter, putting the game largely out of reach by the end of the third quarter.
