HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A high school football team from the Charlotte-area is going international this week.
The team from Ambassador Christian School in Huntersville will travel all the way to Ireland, where they will play Grapevine Faith of Texas this Friday, Aug. 28.
The two schools will face off in the Global Ireland Football Tournament, which precedes Saturday’s season-opening college football game between the University of North Carolina and Texas Christian University.
In addition to the football team, Ambassador Christian’s volleyball and cheer teams are also heading to Dublin.
According to an Instagram story shared by the school’s football account, the teams were set to leave on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Kickoff for Friday’s game in Dublin is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST, and will be streamed worldwide by Global Football.
Then on Saturday, UNC and TCU will get the college football season underway at noon EST. That game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Ambassador Christian School just opened in 2024, along Sam Furr Road, about five minutes off I-77.
The school began its 2026 football season with a 21-14 road win over Mountain View Prep on Friday, Aug. 21.
