When it comes to areas of improvement for the Jaguars this summer, the running game might be at the top of the list. Coen after practice said there “was some good stuff out there today” from the Jaguars’ running back duo.
“We’ve made some strides in that department,” Coen said, noting that Rodriguez shined in a joint practice against the Carolina Panthers last week with Tuten having “a really nice day” against the Buccaneers.
“He was hitting it and had a burst at the second and third level,” Coen said of Tuten.
The Jaguars’ offense did have to deal with an early exit in practice Tuesday from third-year receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who came up with discomfort after a diving touchdown catch on the first offensive play from scrimmage.
Thomas came off the field after the catch, returned one play later for one play, then did not return to practice for the rest of the day. Coen said that he believes Thomas is “alright.”
“Just came down on his shoulder,” Coen said. “I think we’ll just hold him out, be smart, keep him out, and then get him to go for [the regular-season opener against the] Cleveland [Browns] at EverBank Stadium September 13.”
