Chiefs’ young players get final preseason opportunity against Seahawks
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
The Kansas City Chiefs will use their final preseason game to evaluate young players and second-year contributors expected to take on larger roles this season.
The Chiefs host the Seattle Seahawks on Friday at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City held a short workout Wednesday, putting the finishing touches on its game plan.
Safety Jaden Hicks is among the players looking to solidify a role.
After a difficult start to training camp, Hicks has delivered promising performances during the preseason.
“In this game, you’re going to have ups and downs,” Hicks said. “I feel like the biggest part is just to keep your confidence, keep under control and just learn that and realize what it has to take and what you have to do to make sure you stay there.”
Hicks said that approach has helped him navigate camp and improve as the preseason has progressed.
Other young players making strides include offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia and linebacker Jeffrey Bassa.
The Chiefs are counting on several emerging players to contribute as they prepare for the regular season.
