Xavier Worthy’s message about Patrick Mahomes ahead of Chiefs season: ‘He’s back’
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Xavier Worthy doesn’t have any doubts about Patrick Mahomes as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to begin the regular season.
“He’s back,” Worthy said Wednesday. “It’s not potentially back.”
Worthy told reporters Wednesday that he had an up-close look at Mahomes’ work and rehab during the offseason.
He said Mahomes’ determination stood out.
“His grind, his will and want-to is beyond anybody I’ve ever seen,” Worthy said. “Whatever he puts his mind to, that’s what he’s gonna do. He kind of leads the team in that way.”
Worthy was injured himself last year, missing multiple games due to a torn labrum.
He had surgery after the season and said he hopes to get more chemistry with Mahomes this season.
“I actually came back early to work with him a little bit,” Worthy said. “With some of my rehab, just getting that chemistry. Obviously, on and off the field, your quarterback is obviously important, so I came back early just to get that in with him.”
