The Jets’ instability at kicker brought an interesting name to Florham Park on Wednesday.

Former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who was a five-time All-Pro in Baltimore, was among a group of kickers who tried out for the Jets, a source confirmed.

It appears it was the Jets doing due diligence, but it will raise some eyebrows because Tucker was accused of inappropriate behavior during massages, which led to his release by the Ravens before the 2025 season. No legal action was ever taken against him, but the NFL did suspend him for 10 games

Tucker tried out along with Michael Badgley and Josh Karty. The team claimed Blake Grupe off waivers from the Colts on Monday after neither Jason Sanders nor Cade York impressed in training camp this summer.

The Jets are trying to fill a hole at kicker after Nick Folk left in free agency and signed with the Falcons. In addition to Grupe, they have Sanders on their practice squad.

Tucker, 36, was nearly automatic at his peak in Baltimore but tailed off and his job was in jeopardy even before the accusations against him came to light.

Jets coach Aaron Glenn said the team won’t shift into game preparation until next week, but he has already started studying the Titans.

“I’ve been looking at it quite a bit,” Glenn said. “Obviously, the first game for a number of coaches is always the shaky one because you just don’t know exactly what you’re going to get. You could look at film of the past of both coaches and start to think, ‘OK, well this is the system,’ but it’s always going to be a wrinkle.” If you’re good with your major concepts, and I’m just a firm believer that your base concepts should be able to be successful against whatever a team brings out, and that’s why I’ve been saying before, I want to make sure our majors, that there’s no gray, in our majors the players know it like the back of their hand.”

There are no injury reports until next week, but during the portion of practice open to the media, TE Kenyon Sadiq (core) was participating in positional drills. CB D’Angelo Ponds (calf) and TE Jelani Woods (unknown injury) were on a side field working with trainers. TE Jeremy Ruckert (unknown) was watching on the side not in uniform, as were RBs Breece Hall (groin) and Isaiah Davis (knee).
