L’Jarius Sneed feels ‘back at home’ with Chiefs, ready for versatile role on defense
KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
It didn’t take long for Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to feel like he was back home in Kansas City.
After being traded to the Tennessee Titans after the 2023 season, Sneed and the Chiefs agreed on a reunion earlier this summer.
He saw his first preseason action in last Friday’s tie against the Seattle Seahawks.
“Feels great, man,” Sneed said Wednesday. “Feel like I’m back at home. Back with the brothers, great coaches. I feel like I’m home.”
Sneed reunites with Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and he says he’s ready for anything the defensive coaches give him.
“Wherever he plugs me in, that’s where I’m going to be at,” Sneed said.
That could include playing in the slot, Sneed said.
“Spags threw me in there my second year,” Sneed said. “He just threw me in there, and I fell in love with it.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Sneed’s ability to play inside or outside gives them some flexibility on defense.
“He can play inside or outside,” Reid said. “That’s the advantage you gain there with him. He loves doing both, but I mean, I think in his size, he’s a big kid, tough. I mean, arguably one of the best corners in the league when he left here.”
Sneed, originally drafted by the Chiefs, could be considered a veteran in this secondary.
The Chiefs drafted Mansoor Delane with its first pick of the draft.
“They’re hungry,” Sneed said about the young secondary
