Twenty years ago, the New Orleans Saints returned to the Superdome to face archrivals, the Atlanta Falcons, in a newly reopened stadium following the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.

On Sept. 25, 2006, WDSU was on the air for the entire day, marking the historic moment fans were welcomed back to cheer on the Saints.

The Goo Goo Dolls performed a free concert on the ramps of the Superdome ahead of what would become the infamous Domecoming game.

The band described one of its singles, Better Days, that became somewhat of an anthem for New Orleans in the wake of the storm.

Singer John Rzeznik gave the history of the song and spoke about the honor of performing for fans ahead of the game.
