From the archives: Watch Saints fans’ emotional return to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina
NEW ORLEANS —
Twenty years ago, the New Orleans Saints returned to the Superdome to face archrivals, the Atlanta Falcons, in a newly reopened stadium following the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.
On Sept. 25, 2006, WDSU was on the air for the entire day, marking the moment fans were welcomed back to cheer on the Saints.
In this report from 2006, WDSU Anchor Travers Mackel spoke with emotional Saints fans about what it meant to be at what would become one of the most historic games in New Orleans Saints franchise history.
