MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – On this day, September 6, 2024, the Green Bay Packers took on the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
The game, which opened the season for both teams, marked the first regular season NFL game in South America.
It was also only the second time the Packers had played outside of the United States – the first time was in 2022 in London against the New York Giants.
Before the Brazil game, both the Packers and the Eagles were considered Super Bowl contenders, and the game lived up to the hype.
Though both offenses had big games, the Eagles took the win after the Packers failed to execute a last-second Hail Mary.
Despite the loss, the Packers went on to have a steady regular season, finishing 11 – 6. The Eagles, however, took down the Pack once more, ending their season in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs.
In 2026, the Packers are starting a bit later, opening their regular season in just one week against the Minnesota Vikings.
