On the road a third straight time to open the regular season under Sirianni, the Eagles raced out to a 16-0 advantage in the first quarter thanks to a 14-play, 61-yard drive to open things, and then a Darius Slay 70-yard interception return for a touchdown and a Jalen Hurts touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith after another defensive takeaway. But … the lead evaporated quickly and by halftime the Eagles led only 16-14. The Eagles moved the ball in the second half but couldn’t put the ball into the end zone, instead living on Jake Elliott’s right leg. He connected on kicks from 56, 48, and 51 yards to put points on the board and keep the Eagles in front. The game went down to the wire, with the Eagles holding on as New England failed to convert a fourth down in the red zone.
