In the context of building a roster, Eagles Executive Vice President of Football Operations/ General Manager Howie Roseman has said it time and time again: It all starts inside and then moves outside.
The Eagles are a team that structures a roster “from the inside out,” and that includes, very much so, a commitment to the defensive tackle room. Roseman made it a priority to sign star tackles Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter to long-term contracts in the offseason.
“That’s the way we have done things for a long time,” Roseman said. “Keep as many talented players as possible. We can’t keep them all. Building at the line of scrimmage, inside, that has always been a priority for us.”
Indeed, the Eagles continue that philosophy and one peek at the current roster reveals just how important the defensive tackle position is to this football team: The team has players on the roster in that room and all could offer significant roles in the season ahead.
Jalen Carter
The team’s No. 1 draft pick in 2023, Carter is healthy and hungry after injuries marred his 2025 campaign. A game-wrecker in the World Championship season of 2024, Carter combines incredible skills with a high level of playing intelligence to win inside. Carter played only 11 games last season and was still given the respect of earning a second Pro Bowl nod. Carter demands double teams on virtually every snap of the football and wins against even those twosomes with his variety of moves, his strength, and his explosiveness.
