For those who follow the site, there’s nothing we love more than weird stats. The more random, obscure, and downright bizarre, the better. We’ll offer weird stats from each contest. Here, we’ll take a broader look at milestones that can be reached by players or the franchise as a whole at some point during the season.

– Aaron Rodgers needs 13 touchdown passes to pass Peyton Manning for third on the NFL’s all-time list. That will give Rodgers 530. He’s far from catching the top two: Drew Brees (571) and Tom Brady (649).

– All Rodgers needs is 15 touchdown passes to crack into top 10 of Pittsburgh’s all-time list. Ed Brown currently sits 10th with 38. Rodgers tossed 24 in his first year with Pittsburgh last year. If Rodgers finishes with at least 23, he’ll surpass Tommy Maddox for 9th. A 30 touchdown season would tie Mark Malone for 7th place.

– I’ll repeat one of my favorite stats to keep a close eye near season’s end. Rico Dowdle needs 1,000 rushing yards to become the first player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in three-straight seasons with three different teams. He rushed for 1,079 yards for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024, 1,076 yards for the Carolina Panthers in 2025, and will look to do the same in 2025 for the Steelers. He needs to rush for 58.9 yards per game to get there.

– Tight end Pat Freiermuth needs 204 receiving yards to have the third most by a tight end in franchise history. That will surpass Bennie Cunningham and put Freiermuth on the podium, leaving him only behind Heath Miller and the great Elbie Nickel.

– As we’ve noted throughout the offseason, Chris Boswell is close to setting multiple franchise records. Entering the season with 299 field goals, he needs 11 to break Gary Anderson’s all-time mark. Boswell needs 94 total points to pass Anderson for the most points in Steelers history. With 94, Boswell would have 1,344. Odds are good he does both this season.

– Cam Heyward needs 8 sacks to reach 100 for his career.

– A 10-sack season by Alex Highsmith will tie Dwight White’s (unofficial) sack total of 55.

– T.J. Watt trails Greg Lloyd by one forced fumble for the Steelers’ official all-time record. Lloyd has 37, Watt has 36.

– Since sacks became an official statistic in 1982, only one NFL player has 100-plus sacks and 10-plus interceptions: Julius Peppers. Watt needs one interception to make that a two-man club.

– Pittsburgh enters the season on a 67-game streak failing to score more than seven points in the first quarter. If the Steelers go the entire 17-game regular season without breaking it, they’ll have the longest streak in modern NFL history. The only team ahead of them will be the 1930-1937 Brooklyn Dodgers, who went 86-straight games.

The Steelers last scored more than seven points in the first quarter in their 2022 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. More than half of their 10 points came via a Minkah Fitzpatrick pick-six.

– If the Steelers win 10 games this season, they’ll be the only NFL franchise to win exactly 10 games in four-straight seasons. That is blunted a bit by my realization that the Steelers are the only team to win exactly 10 games three-straight years but a fourth will be history-making, too. They’re nothing if not consistent.

– Finally, zooming out a little wider. The Steelers need 9 wins this season to achieve 700 in franchise history. They’ll become just the fourth franchise in football to ever reach that mark behind the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and New York Giants, three of the NFL’s oldest organizations.

In fact, a 9-8 finish will leave Pittsburgh with exactly 700 victories and 600 defeats. The team also has 22 ties.
