One of the biggest question marks for the New York Giants throughout the offseason was the status of wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Nabers has been recovering from a torn ACL since last year. While he has made a ton of progress in that span, his status for Week 1 has been uncertain.
However, the Giants provided an injury update on Wednesday, Sept. 9, that pretty much confirms Nabers is going to be out there on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

After practice on Wednesday, Giants head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Nabers was a full participant and said, “I think he’s ready to go,” per SNY’s Connor Hughes on X.
Harbaugh did caution, however, that Nabers’ ability to play will depend on how he feels, and the first-year head coach would not fully commit to the star wideout suiting up just yet.

A crucial piece to Giants’ offense

There is no doubt that Nabers is a huge part of the Giants’ offense this season.
Nabers is the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for quarterback Jaxson Dart, and New York needs him to return to form because there’s a shaky group behind him.
Nabers showed his superstar potential during his rookie campaign, when he ripped off 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.

The former No. 6 overall pick looked to be well on his way to another impressive season in 2025 before he tore his ACL in Week 4.
The biggest concern for Nabers in 2026 is that he may not be himself in his first season back. We’ve seen that play out time and time again with players in their first year back from a torn ACL.

Another concern for Nabers’ production is he hasn’t had a lot of in-game experience with Dart, with whom he played in just one game. That was the aforementioned Week 4 contest that Nabers didn’t even finish.
All that said, we still expect Nabers to be peppered with targets, and he has the potential to get off to a strong start in Week 1 against a Cowboys defense that has a questionable cornerbacks room.
The Giants host the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday on NBC and Peacock.
